Technology meets "Text Book"..: What is OEM?

What is OEM?

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.
This basically refers to
  • A company that manufactures products on its own
                                                Or also,
  • A company that gets some components from other companies and includes in its line of products.

Consider this example;  Intel makes CPUs on its own  and supplies it to Lenovo who include it in their laptops. So both Intel and Lenovo are OEMs in this scenario.

Some of the OEMs you should know regarding Tech Industry:

  • Samsung
  • Apple
  • LG
  • Sony
  • Lenovo
  • Dell  etc..
