Integrated and Discrete Graphics
The term 'Graphics', refers to a GPU.
GPU utilised in a computer can be of two types.
Integrated or Discrete.
Integrated: These are the ones that are combined inside along with a CPU as a single package.
So, obviously manufactured by the company which makes the CPU as well . These are used for low graphic demanding tasks such as Photo viewing, Low quality video viewing and perhaps some less graphic demanding games. So all in all, not that powerful compared to the Discrete Graphics.Although, on the Upside, they consume less power.
EX: If you brought a laptop. Lets say, with a 4th generation i5 CPU. Now, if you notice the Graphics in your Laptop to be HD4400 then that Graphics is Integrated Graphics. Which was also manufactured by Intel along with the CPU.
Discrete Graphics: These are the Graphic which are added separately ( Not embedded along with the CPU). These are very powerful Graphics used to watch high quality videos or to play Graphic Intensive games. Prime manufacturers are AMD and Nvidia and they are also bulky in size compared to the Integrated ones and also consume more power (Obviously!!). So, normally you don't see them in ultrabooks but rather in bulkier laptops or desktops.
AMD manufactured Graphics are known by the designation of "AMD RADEON".
Nvidia manufactured Graphics are known by the designation of "GeForce".
So if you happen to notice the above to designation to the GPU specification to your laptop, Then your graphics is Discrete Graphics.
